Job Summary:

Eagle Rock School and Professional Development Center (Eagle Rock / ERS), is seeking an experienced Facilities Maintenance Technician who, as part of the Operations Team, will perform both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities to support the safety and sustainability of our 629-acre campus and its thirty-plus buildings. This position will report to the Director of Operations and will work full time, Sunday through Thursdays, alongside another Facilities Maintenance Technician. The Facilities Maintenance Technician assists and supports the school’s Leadership Team, Instructional Specialists, Business Office staff, and all other staff in a manner that enhances their roles.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will attend to emergencies outside the normal school hours and programming, including and not limited to: snowplowing, responding to fire alarms, HVAC outages and plumbing issues. The ideal candidate will bring a business sensibility to the operations of the school, making the daily operation of the school as cost-effective and time-efficient as possible, while maintaining a high degree of student, parent, resident, and staff satisfaction. Qualifications, Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years experience in two out of the five following trades: carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, groundskeeping, and electrical trades
  • Hands-on knowledge and experience in the safe operation of a variety of tools, machinery and power equipment used in performing essential functions
  • Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license
  • Basic knowledge of building codes and construction and architecture terminology
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract concrete variables. Ability to analyze and use data to supervise the delivery of instruction and the school improvement process.
  • Technology Skills: Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spreadsheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology. Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Ability to manage daily work schedule using software tools (applications), on computers and mobile devices
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and efficiently complete all activities
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to interact/communicate with all members of the community (students, teachers, administrators, board members and parents)

Essential Job Duties

  • Inspect school facilities to ensure that all facilities are suitable for safe operations, and maintained in an attractive and clean condition
  • Plan, schedule and perform preventative and ongoing maintenance tasks for the purpose of ensuring equipment is in proper working condition
  • Maintain knowledge regarding methods of industrial cleaning, safety practices and procedures, and health standards and hazards
  • Schedule and coordinate annual inspections per state and county regulations
  • Determine the type, amount and delivery of maintenance and cleaning materials to support the efficient delivery of assigned duties
  • Schedule vendors for repairs and maintenance
  • Snow removal on the roads, driveways, paths, steps and roofs
  • Forestry: fell trees, pine beetle mitigation
  • Plumbing, heating, unclog drains, in-floor heat maintenance
  • Electrical: replace switches, outlets, fixtures, ballasts
  • Drywall: replace drywall, texture and paint
  • Aquatics Facility Operator: maintain the pool in a safe, comfortable and good working condition
  • Carpentry: repair broken furniture, walls, ceilings, baseboards
  • Landscaping and Erosion management: repair washed-out roads and paths, maintain drainage ditches; equipment operator; noxious weed management
  • Athletic Field: mow, trim and maintain the irrigation system
  • Automatic Gates: troubleshooting and repair
  • Fleet Maintenance: 20+plus vehicles, such as small SUVs, service/work trucks, small buses, ATVs, skid steers, and other passenger vehicles and construction equipment
  • Fire Protection Systems: maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Appliances: troubleshooting, ordering, installation, scheduling repairs
  • Kitchen Equipment Repair and Maintenance: descaling and cleaning ice machine and steamer oven

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the community
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form and maintain confidentiality
  • Documenting the Before and After of projects
  • As appropriate, solicit and analyze proposals from contractors to perform various repairs and special maintenance
  • Respond to immediate safety issues to maintain a functioning educational environment
  • Coordinate appropriate facilities set-up and technical equipment for a variety of activities either for the school or outside use as required
  • Track and communicate the status of project requests to the Director of Operations and other interested parties to ensure timely feedback and accountability
  • Maintain manual and electronic documents, files, and records (inspection records, timesheet, work orders and requisitions, supplies, chemical storage, crisis management data, security controls), to document activities and ensure an up-to-date reference

Physical Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to perform strenuous physical effort as needed; this position may require extended periods of standing, walking, using hands to handle, hold and control tools and objects, reaching with arms, stooping, kneeling or crawling
  • Ability to push, pull, lift and carry objects of up to 100 lbs.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
