Admissions and Enrollment Manager

Position Title: Admissions and Enrollment Manager 

Reports To: Director of Students

Job Summary

The Admissions and Enrollment Manager is responsible for overseeing student recruitment and the admission process for Eagle Rock School (ERS). Internally, this position works closely with the Director of Students and the Student Services Team as part of an admissions team to ensure student enrollment meets the current needs of ERS. Externally, this position works to build a sustainable pipeline of partner organizations and schools to support recruitment and communicates regularly with student applicants and their parents/guardians.

Qualifications  

  • BA/BS required in Education, Social Work, or a related field. MA preferred
  • 3-5 years experience working with adolescents in admissions/enrollment.
  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred

  • Experience living and working in a residential setting preferred

Specific to Admissions, the successful candidate for this position will possess the following attributes: Strong oral and written communication skills and follow-through with external partners and applicants. Able to spend significant time, up to 50%, for travel and recruitment. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to develop collegial relationships and work across departments; can work independently as well as collaboratively. Timely and thorough completion of tasks without supervision or needed follow-up. High levels of confidentiality and professionalism. Pleasant, courteous, professional, and proactive customer service skills. Proficient with web-based admissions software, ability to navigate information systems and databases, as well as Google Workspace (including Gmail, docs, drive, calendar, sheets, etc.).

The position requires experience working with diverse populations, including students from diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, LGBTQ+ students, and students from low-income backgrounds. Responsibilities

Admissions:

  • Be the gatekeeper for admission to Eagle Rock school. Collaborate with Health and Wellness, Instructional Team, and Director of Students to decide student admissions 2-3 times a year
  • Use Blackbaud Enrollment Management Software to manage the admissions and enrollment from first contact until the student arrives on campus, including follow up communication and coordination
  • Read student applications and prioritize applicants based on if they are a fit for ERS
  • Interview students and parents/guardians for possible admission to ERS
  • Collaborate with Health and Wellness and Instructional teams to conduct mental health and academic screenings of applicants 
  • Collect, store, and maintain application and enrollment materials in coordination with Business Office, Wilderness Instructors and Life After Eagle Rock staff
  • Organize virtual meetings with admitted students, families and ERS houseparents
  • Provide information to the community about incoming students (names, house assignments, etc)

Recruitment:

  • Create and implement new student recruitment plan to meet yearly admissions goals
  • Build and maintain relationships with organizations and schools nationwide, including first contacts, monthly emails, individual conversations, etc. 
  • Organize virtual meetings with prospective students and families
  • Design and distribute marketing materials
  • Coordinate and facilitate question & answer sessions for prospective students 
  • Identify, plan, and participate in recruiting events
  • Manage admissions and recruitment budget

Student Support:

  • Communicate with parents/guardians and sponsors when needed
  • Provide information to Houseparents and staff as needed
  • Consult with school nurse and counselors as needed
  • Meet with students as needed
  • Keep abreast of student behavior and mental health concerns
  • Meet regularly with the Director of Students regarding student issues

School-Wide Involvement: 

  • When you are on campus, hold gatherings to update the community about admissions
  • Prioritize communication and building relationships with houseparents
  • Collaborate with staff to recruit students nationwide
  • Share your unique skills with the school, e.g., sports, art, spiritual practices, poetry, hiking, etc.
  • Be a role model and active member ERS community beyond this job description
  • Participate in the orientation process for Fellows 

Essential Job Functions

This position will require filing and moving of files and file boxes and at times repetitive motion. Standing at a desk or file cabinet is part of the essential duties, up to but not limited to 1-2 hours per day. Sitting or standing at a desk area often. Sitting while traveling on vehicles and planes for periods of time, about 20 to 30 days of travel intermittently throughout the year.

Salary range for this position: $55,000 – $70,000, based on education and experience
