The Eagle Rock School trip to Pine Ridge Reservation will be taking place the week of Dec. 2 through 6. Each year students and staff go to Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota to bring a little holiday cheer to the folks there. They prepare a big meal that they serve at the community hall and then Santa gives out gifts to the young ones and the elders pick out winter clothing and other gifts.
The Eagle Rock contingent is looking for new and near- new winter clothing, toiletries, canned food, blankets, a Christmas tree and stand, lights and decorations for the tree and cash. They give the tree away after the party to a family for their home and use any cash to purchase gifts in certain age groups that they don`t have enough of or for
They are asking for new gifts in the following age groups: infant-3years; 4-6 years; 7-9 years; 10-12 years; 13-15 years; and 16-19 years. They ask that the gifts are wrapped and marked the age and “boy” or “girl,” so they get it to the right person. They are accepting donations until Monday, Nov. 30. The best times to drop off donations are Sunday through Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the kitchen at Eagle Rock School.
“I would like to thank all the people who have supported this trip over the years and wish you all a very happy and safe holiday season,” said trip coordinator Tim Phelps.
